It all started with Otto Lilienthal, and now global players like Rolls Royce, MTU and Lufthansa-Bombardier define Brandenburg as an aerospace region. Its specialities include turbine technologies, testing and MRO. When it comes to developing strategies for low-emission aircrafts or unmanned flight systems there’s a future in the German Capital Region.

Development of a modular drone infrastructure in Brandenburg
The development of a modular drone infrastructure is at the heart of EVA’s work, the US-Portuguese company based in Wildau (Dahme-Spreewald district). The international company settled in Brandenburg because it found the perfect mix here: crucial factors in choosing the new site were its proximity to a technology hub and the capital Berlin, and space for testing new drone technologies.

The success of future mobility depends on alternative drive technologies – in aviation too. Development of these new technologies now increasingly take places in the form of knowledge and technology transfer when companies and research institutes work together.
Among many others, Brandenburg is funding a project for a new hybrid-electric flight demonstrator. The joint project sees Rolls Royce Germany, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the aeronautical engineering company APUS work together on developing an environmentally friendly drive technology.
